Parks Advisory Committee Meetings Scheduled for 2007
The Okaloosa County Parks Advisory Committee's will be held in Crestview from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. The meetings will alternate between Crestview and Fort Walton Beach throughout the year. The Crestview meetings are held in the Public Works Conference Room at 1759 S. Ferdon Boulevard. Fort Walton Beach meetings are held in the Board of County Commission Conference Room, on the third floor of the Water and Sewer building, 1804 Lewis Turner Boulevard.
The Parks Advisory Committee is comprised of nine citizens, six coming from the unincorporated areas and three from the incorporated, with each County Commission District being represented by at least one member.
The purpose of the committee is to serve as advisors to the Board of County Commissioners and the Parks Department. Specific duties include identifying potential land opportunities for future community parks and recreational activities, identifying potential funding sources, developing community partnership for cost reductions and assisting in the development of neighborhood parks.
The Parks Advisory Committee is currently seeking one volunteer member, and each member serves for a term of three years. If you are interested in serving, would like more information, or would like to schedule a time to meeting with the Committee, call Sheri Whitman, 850.689.5084.
